The community of Twin Lakes, Oklahoma, was hard hit this summer by the Cimarron River flooding.  Heavy rain-fall, fed the rushing river current, sweeping away ten (10) homes and fifteen (15) additional structures leaving behind homes, now unlivable, teetering on the edge of the eroding banks of the Cimarron River.  Since the 1960's, the Cimarron River has eroded away 2500 feet of land, making its way inland to the Twin Lakes community.

 

Twenty three (23) homes were heavily damaged by the rain and flooding leaving residents struggling to make the necessary repairs before winter weather sets in.  Many residents are still without safe water and plumbing due to water well contamination and damaged septic systems. 

 

The cost of reclaiming the safety and purity of the water well supply has been overwhelming, draining the families financially, emotionally and physically.  The over-all impact of the flooding has been staggering, taking its toll on the everyone, including the eighty-six senior citizens and children, some who are struggling with uncertainty and fear. 

 

Hope For The City~Hope for the Holidays is a "People Helping People" organization based on good, old-fashioned principles, that when you see a neighbor in need,
you help.  Next time, the need may be our own and we reap the good that we sow.

Together, we can impact an entire community of families and empower them with the energizing spark of hope!  It's hope that says, "We can do this!  We are not alone!  We have not been forgotten!  My family IS going to be alright!"  This hope, is what gets people up and out of bed and back to work, back to living life again.  Not just surviving a devastating incident.

Every little bit makes a difference and multiplies when added to what another gives.  Our goal is to raise $200,000.00, to serve the 178 families in practical and functional ways as well as give them something special.
